MYBIOG

A GENERAL HISTORYREADME

A collection of musical exploits.

EMERGENCE1975

ARAVNIC1990

Formed by a gang of friends hungry to crate music this little band was the rock terrier of Galway in its day. Aravnic hit the city at the same time as the Crusty movement was going underground. The stragglers that were left sought refuge in the sounds of this raw, un-disciplined rock band.

The shows we played were amongst some of the roughest and rowdiest that the venues had seen. During their time in Ballyfermot Music College Aravnic performed at the now legendary " The Baggot Inn". This was just one of the multitude of venues we played in during our 5 year run. Primarily a festival band Aravnic perofrmed at many of the notorious Biker Fetsivals held in Lisdoonvarna Co Clare and as such found themselves well prepared for many of the issues that affect bands day in day out.

JINX1996

Four Galway lads who brought a unique style of Rock music to the west of Ireland.

Jinx had a great following made up of students and Loughrea people. It seems that we brought our music to the town at just the right time to become something of a soundtrack to the life and times of the youth in Loughrea. The Abbey Tavern was our local haunt and on any given Saturday night were you to walk in off the street you might have seen the mooning of the band or the dancers heaving in place with rivers of perspiration running freely or the giant "Glass Guy" who posessed the ability to carve his way through the thickest of melees.

Although primarily a covers band Jinx was used to test new original material on an unsuspecting audience.

CHARIS (ACOUSTIC)1999

After the dis-banding of Jinx came Charis. A power house acoustic duo belting out a mix of original songs and contempory covers. In this carnation Charis supported such artists as; Ladysmithblackmombazo, Ray Manzerick, Sharon Shannon, Damien Rice, Nils Lofgren (The E street Band), John Martyn and many more.

This group made numerous TV appearances in Ireland on TG4 and appeared on several compilation albums released nationally by HotPress Magazine and Origin Records.

CHARIS (ELECTRIC)2001

Charis are a band based in the cultural capital of Ireland,Galway city. They have succeeded in blending the musical influences of Ireland and Spain to come up with a sound that was described by the Boston Globe as,” a Celtic Dave Matthews Band”.

With two independent releases under their belts (Desert Dark Sky & Winterflower) and one short listed acoustic EP (Middle Pillar), Charis are certainly the most acclaimed unsigned band to emerge from Galway. They have been included on various compilation albums and have appeared on the Hotpress cover CD, ‘Those Petrol Emotions’,alongside the best of contempary irish songwriters.

Supported: The Frames,Mundy,Damien Rice,Juliet Turner,Jack L,Ray Manzerik(The Doors),Ladysmithblackmombazo,Picturehouse,Relish,Aslan,ChinaCrisis,Nils Lofgren(The E street Band),Kila,Sharon Shannon,Dervish

Galway-The Black Box,Town Hall Theatre,Roisin Dubh,Cuba

Boston-TheBurren,The Middle East,Midway Café,Milky Way

Derry-The Gweedore Bar

Belfast-The Cathedral Quarter

With a fantastic blend of raw and powerfully untamed vocals complimented by a seemingly wild but disciplined musicianship, the band is capable of taking their audience on an evocative ride towards total rapture.

In 2002 Charis completed a 3wk tour of the major Boston area in the USA, performing 25 shows in 21 nights and consequently creating quite a stir amongst the gig going population of the city.

ULTANJOHN2005

UltanJohn was the result of the combined talents of two people. Ultan Conlon and John Conneely. Both have been performing original material around Ireland, England and the USA as solo artists or as part of a larger outfit for a number of years. UltanJohn sees them join forces to produce a new and refreshing style of acoustic music. Not since CSNY or Simon and Garfunkle has there been a male harmony based sound that is as rich and textured.

Ultan Conlon sings with a beautifully simple style, deep resonant sounds emanate from his performance. John Conneelys style is more complex. He sits behind Ultans vocals matching each twist of phrase perfectly and has the ability to reach deep down for the gravely tones of Tom Waite’s and then rise high above for those Jeff Buckley moments. Together these two voices create something unique and magical that makes each live performance one to remember.

CHARIS RE-FORM2010

Having record numerous EP’s in 1999 their first album Desert Dark Sky was recorded in 2000 and was independently released receiving great reviews from the press and the public. In 2002 Charis recorded Winterflower a self- produced album of 10 songs including a version of the Beatles Eleanor Rigby. They have recieved national Radio/Television play and been included on many nationally released compilation albums and on the Hotpress cover CD, ‘Those Petrol Emotions’, alongside the best of contemporary Irish songwriters.

With two independent releases under their belts and one acoustic EP (Middle Pillar), Charis toured Ireland extensively for the next couple of years visiting Boston MA and London before disbanding in the summer of 2005. In 2009 the band re-formed briefly to perform at the Armada Corazon Event to raise money for bassist Luis Asturias who was diagnosed with severe health problems and as a result had to move home to Spain.

Following this Charis performed at a number of Summer Festivals in Ireland and it was decided that life is too short to not play music. In 2010 Charis are back on the road with a new Bass player (Eddie Dee. Formerly of Awsum Adudu) and a setlist of new songs.

END OF DAYS2019

Discovered on July 9, 2002 by the LINEAR team, asteroid 2002 NT7 is in an orbit, which is highly inclined with respect to the Earth's orbit about the sun and in fact nearly intersects the orbit of the Earth. While the orbits of Earth and 2002 NT7 are close to one another at one point in their respective orbits, that does not mean that the asteroid and Earth themselves will get close to one another. Just after an asteroid like 2002 NT7 is discovered, the limited number of observations available do not allow its trajectory to be tightly constrained and the object's very uncertain future motion often allows a very low probability of an Earth impact at some future date.
